IRVINE, Calif., April 21, 2025 — Novele today unveiled RippleBoard, a rack-level power conditioning platform for the power behavior created by high-density GPU deployments.
Rack power draw has moved faster than the infrastructure around it. Facilities designed for a steady load per rack are now being asked to support GPU deployments that draw several times as much, in bursts that track the workload rather than a daily curve. The consequence is not only more power in total, but a different shape of demand arriving at equipment specified against the old one.
Rapid changes in rack power affect upstream electrical equipment, ride-through design and facility capacity planning. That problem sits closer to the rack than facility-level infrastructure can reach, and upstream capacity additions take years and address the average. RippleBoard is being developed to condition power and ride through short events at the rack itself, where the transients are created. It is intended for events measured in seconds and minutes, not for managing energy across a facility over a billing period.
Novele is developing the platform in direct engagement with data center operators, working through how the design targets map to real facility constraints and where it fits alongside equipment already installed.
The approach mirrors the principle behind Novele's work in commercial buildings: control demand at the point where it is created, rather than sizing everything upstream of it for a peak that occurs rarely. EnergyBoard applies that principle to the fifteen-minute intervals that set a building's demand charge. RippleBoard applies it on a much shorter clock, at the rack. In both cases the mechanism is distributed hardware coordinated by software that reads the load and acts near where the power is drawn, rather than one large asset reacting after an event.
About Novele
Novele is an applied-AI company for energy in the built environment, making buildings intelligent with the hardware-enabled AI layer that lets them predict, reshape, and optimize their power in real time. EnergyBoard, its modular energy storage platform, is built for indoor installation in occupied commercial buildings, and BoardOS is the intelligence that orchestrates it across a single site or an entire portfolio.
